The regular monthly meeting was held at the Kalamazoo Red Cross on September 21, 2006.
President Dave Schneider, AB8DS, called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM.
Treasurer’s Reported That we have 1283.57 in the regular account and 463.72 in the maintenance account.
Old Business and announcements:
Public Service: Diabetes walk and the SET are on October 7th. Jamboree on the air is October 21st.
Hamfest Committee: We will have about 100 tables. Trunk sales will be in the parking lot behind the Hazel Gray building (the spot we used when the hamfest was in Hazel Gray). Use of this lot for trunk sales cost an extra $50.00. Need volunteers.
Field Day: Our total field day points were 6448 for 7A. We received 1140 bonus points.
Big Project - 15 students have signed up for the Big Project this year. More volunteers are needed. Code practice oscillator kits are needed.
Talks with the Community access center about holding out next classes at their location and having them tape the class are proceeding and look very promising.
New Business: The December meeting will be another pot-luck.
Next year is the 75th anniversary of the KARC. We should plan something.
John Tucker has requested additional people volunteer to be in the VE pool.
After a short break, Jerb talked about things he does for the club that someone else will have to do when he moves away in about two years.
The main activity that will have to be taken over by someone is the maintenance of the NOAA transmitter. This involves monthly inspections and taking care of whatever needs fixing.
He also offered to pass on some of his knowledge to interested hams by holding classes.
